How it works
Three steps, then you can forget it's there.
The Cookie sits on the table between you. There's nothing to configure at the table and nothing to hand around.
Tap in
Everyone taps their phone to the top of The Cookie to join the session. That is the whole setup.
Phones lock
Each person's phone locks according to their own configuration, so nobody has to agree on one set of rules for the table.
Play for fewest pickups
From there it is just the evening. Every pickup counts, and the leaderboard keeps score for the group.
Friendly competition
Last place still had a great night.
Putting your phone down is much easier when it's a game instead of a rule. Everyone in the session shares one leaderboard, and the fewest pickups takes the top spot.
Loser pays for dinner, does a dare, or just takes the loss. Your Cookie, Your rules. We're just keeping score.

Rally mode
For when the table goes quiet.
Every evening has a lull. The conversation runs out, nobody wants to be the one who reaches for a phone first, and then everybody does. Rally mode is the feature we're building for exactly that moment — a way to get the table talking again.
Rally mode isn't part of The Cookie yet. It's coming, and this is what it's for.

What is The Cookie?
A small physical product from Modem that you put on the table when you are with people. Everyone taps their phone to the top to join a session, each phone locks according to that person’s own configuration, and the group shares a leaderboard for the fewest pickups.
How many people can connect simultaneously?
The Cookie supports up to 6 simultaneous connections
How does a session start?
Tap your phone to the top of The Cookie, if a session is active you simply join in. If there is no ongoing session, a new one begins.
Do I need an app?
Yes, in order to connect to The Cookie you will need our free companion app. Simply tap your phone to any Cookie to be directed to a download.
Does everyone have to follow the same rules?
No. Each person's phone locks according to their own configuration, so you and the friend across the table can be set up differently and still share the same session.
What exactly happens to my phone during a session?
Using your phone's built in screen time systems, your phone prevents you from opening any non-allowed apps. Our companion app simply tells the screen time functions to activate. The app locking is non-permanent and non-destructive. Simply leave the session to unlock your phone.
How does the leaderboard work?
Everyone in the session shares one leaderboard, ranked by pickups. Fewest pickups takes the top spot. A pickup is quantified by anytime you unlock your phone.
What is Rally mode?
A feature we are building for the moment a conversation runs out of road — a way to get the table talking again. It is not part of The Cookie yet.

Can I buy one?
We love your excitement! Unfortunately, not yet as The Cookie is not currently for sale. We intend to sell it in the future, and the quickest way to hear about that is to leave your email below.
Which phones work with The Cookie?
Currently we support the latest iOS devices with no current plans for Android support.
Can I still be reached during a session?
You configure what can notify you during setup and can be changed whenever not in a session. The Cookie will light up with your color when an allowed notification reaches you.
Can I leave a session early?
Leaving a session is as simple as tapping once more. If you forget to tap out before departing, your phone will automatically unlock itself.
